Collegiate School Debate Coach

 

Collegiate School, an all-boys independent school on Manhattan's Upper West Side, is looking for a part time debate coach.  The hours will vary according to debate tournament schedules and practice times. The person applying for this position should have experience debating in high school or college, excellent communication skills, high energy, good organization skills, a respect for students, and a love of working with teenagers.  Duties will include:
 

• Supervision of debaters during overnight and day tournaments.
• Preparation of debaters, including review of cases, work on researching arguments, supervising practice debates, and providing feedback. 
• Organizing and planning for tournament competition, including registration, travel arrangements, communicating with debaters and parents, and finding judges.
• Managing a budget for registration fees, travel costs, and hotel charges.
• Recruitment and development of younger debaters.
• Communicating with faculty and parents.
• Organizing in-school debates and demonstrations.
